Motorola Model 55-X-15 Table Radio (1946)
This whimsical AC/DC powered
Motorola 55-X-15 covers the
standard broadcast band. It uses
the AA5 tube set:- 12SA7
(mixer/LO), 12SK7 (IF), 12SQ7
(2nd det/avc/1st af), 50L6GT (af
power), 35Z5GT (rectifier).
When I first bought this I was not
certain it was original, figuring that
someone may have stuck the
flowery decals on at some point in
its history. However, a few years
later, in a very different geographic
location, I spied the identical model
in an antiques store. Though that
one was in poor condition, the
coloring and decorations were the
same, convincing me as to the
originality of the set.
